Teaser! Ryno and Simone | Urban couple shoot | Parkhurst
Ryno and Simoné beautiful urban coupe shoot in Parkhurst was so much fun!
I held a little competition on my Facebook and Simone was one of the 2 winners…and we went to Parkhurst for a creative couple shoot in the streets. Wow, they are such a cool couple and they were more than willing to along with my experimental creative shots…and I love the outcome! They looked absolutely beautiful and so much in love!
Enjoy the photos and I can’t wait to share more!
Teaser! Zander and Akira | Engagement shoot | Bank Towers, 012Central
Akira got a hold of me to capture their actual engagement, the moment she asks her prince charming to get married. I was obviously over the moon, because this is such a cool moment to photograph!
This year is 2020 and also #leapyear…yup, the year with a 29th of February, and we always make these jokes that “If you get married on the 29th of February, then you only have to celebrate your union once every 4 years”. I mean, then husbands have less opportunity to forget their anniversary…hahaha!….but there is another unwritten rule…it’s the year when girlfriends are allowed to ask their boyfriends to marry them…well, thats what happened yesterday!
Akira got a hold of me to capture their actual engagement, the moment she asks her prince charming, Zander, to get married. I was obviously over the moon, because this is such a cool moment to photograph!
I Akira that we have 2 options: you either do something together and when the moment presents itself, I jump out of the bushes and take photos (but then you aren’t necessarily ready for photos), or we can arrange a romantic couple shoot, then you are dressed and ready for photos…and Zander won’t suspect anything. So that is what we did. We agreed on a couple shoot, and Akira would give me “the knod” or thumbs-up and she will then get ready to pop the question. Akira arranged access to the rooftop at Bank Towers, 012Central, and we did the most amazing couple shoot in the gorgeous golden hour sunlight on the rooftop, with the most amazing view of central Pretoria.
I had this idea of posing Zander facing away from me, and Akira facing me, and I would then give her a thumbs-up (I didn’t know if I would get 150% ready for the moment if she gave me the thumbs-up…I mean I can’t miss the moment)…and it worked SOOO well in my favour! I had a chance to photograph Akira holding the ring, without Zander noticing. WOW, what a cool photo and moment!
Congrats again on getting engaged…you guys are such a lovely couple and look sooooo happy together!
Enough said for now! Enjoy the photos, and I can’t wait to share more!
Teaser! Jacobus, Elaine and the 4 | Family | Gold Reef City
Oh my hat, the twins are the CUTEST! I had loads of fun with the Geldenhuys family!
How gorgeous are these people? Elaine asked me to capture family portraits for her and she really wanted fun and colourful photos…so we went to Gold Reef City! I met them at Jacobus and Elaine at Desmond and Madelize’s wedding (Jacobus is Madelize’s brother) a few years ago, before the twins were born.
Having four kids and taking them to Gold Reef City is fun and somewhat of a daunting task, but it was super fun! Smaller one’s loved it and we also did some “grownup” fun rides with Luche, the eldest…I even went on one ride…but I wasn’t allowed to take my camera so I don’t have evidence of my ride on the Jozi Express!
The highlight for me was at the end, just before we exited the park I got the twins to pose and hug…my heart melted!! I have two little ones of of my own and I know how much love you can have for someone…but GEAPERS…I think the twins are the CUTEST on the planet…period!
Enjoy the sneak peak…can’t wait to share more!
Maxim and Liesbeth | Wedding | Kuthaba Bush Lodge
What a beautiful destination wedding at Kuthaba Bush Lodge! Maxim and Liesbeth had a super fun and special safari wedding in South Africa.
“If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.” Laura Ingalls Wilder
Maxim and Liesbeth are from Belgium and decided to celebrate their union with loved ones in South Africa! Liesbeth’ parents have been staying for almost 20years in Witrivier, and Liesbeth went to school in Witrivier for a few years, and later on moved back to Belgium to go to school there. The majority of the guests at the wedding flew in from Belgium, and a few South African friends also attended, but unfortunately Maxim’s parents couldn’t attend the wedding…and they were sorely missed.
Maxim and Liesbeth did the legal union in Belgium last year, but they knew they wanted their dream wedding in South Africa with a safari-type feel…and wow, Kuthaba Bush Lodge is such a beautiful setting for a this! Each time I capture a wedding here the scenery just blows me away. I mean they have beautiful mountain views, a gorgeous dam plus a stunning and massive Fig Tree…and wildlife on top of that…wow, what a setting for a wedding!
If I could sum up this wedding in one word, it will be “relaxed”. Wow, I was a bit on my nerves because everybody was super relaxed and enjoying themselves, and there wasn’t a huge plan to finish up, other than Liesbeth had to walk down the aisle at 16:00. I mean people were swimming, and having lunch, Maxim got ready in probably 4 rooms (for some time I couldn’t find him, and when I did, he was busy in the girl’s room getting his face powdered by Tami James). I am not used to the groom getting ready with the girls…but it created cool photo opportunities, and lots of cool memories for them! This was by far the most “documentary style” wedding I have captured…this means I capture almost all the getting ready photos without interfering with the moments, everything happened spontaneously…which I love and which the couple will love!
Wow, Liesbeth had the most gorgeous wedding dress from Ladybird, and Maxim looked smashing in his Cafe Costume’s suit!
Ashleigh from The Love Knot did the coordination, decor and flowers to perfection. Eeeek, this lady is on fire! (So I had to create a picture for her almost where she is literally on fire..hahaha)
The task of creating gorgeous details at a far-off destination venue is not a simple feat but Ahleigh does it with style and flair. And with her mom at her side she had created the most beautiful table arrangements and flower decorations…well done! Everybody was in awe of the styling, well done girls!
Ashleigh also brought the cake, which was from the Baker Boys, and what a show stopper of a cake! Gracenote Music created the most amazing atmosphere with their live music and Alex, the DJ, had the people entertained the whole night…wow…the party was super fun! Even I was hopping up and down taking photos of everybody just really enjoying themselves!
Tami James did an amazing job with the makeup and hair. We were way behind schedule because everybody was super relaxed, which forced the makeup and hair to be done at the same time on Liesbeth! Wow, that was a sight to see, well done girls!
Enough said. Congrats again Maxim and Liesbeth and many blessings for your marriage! I usually say :”See you when I take pictures of your little ones!” but I guess I could fly over to Belgium to take photos of your kiddos one day…you never know!
Enjoy the photos and please leave a comment at the end of the blog.

Thomas and Shadè | Post Wedding | Struisbaai
OH MY WORD! I loved this shoot and just look how gorgeous are these two souls…they are stil madly in love, which made it easy for me to photograph them!
Wow, I would have loved to capture Thomas and Shadè’s wedding. Thomas and Shade were on holiday in Struisbaai, and so was I with my family. Shade asked me to capture photos of her and Thomas in their wedding clothes on the beach, and I was really extatic because I havent done many post-wedding shoots, and its been a while since I did a wedding shoot on the beach. One of the main reasons for the shoot was they wanted photos of them with their in-laws’ twin boys.
OH MY WORD! I loved this shoot and just look how gorgeous are these two souls…and they were sooooooo easy to photograph. And the wedding bells are still in the air, I mean just look…they are so much in love still! They had fun and were smiling the whole time! They both do cheerleading and they wanted to do an acrobatic stunt….I was like “You bring it on!” and it looks amazing! Just love the result!
We went to two locations, the first was a dried out water pan close to Struisbaai and the second was on Skulpies Beach in Struisbaai.
Shadé looked incredible in her Lizan Zondach Couture wedding dress and she wore simple, yet beautiful shoes from Woolworths. Thomas looked dapper in his Tip Top Tailor suit and his shoes were from Edgars.
Enjoy the photos and please leave a comment at the end!

Lize and family | Family session | Franskraal, Western Cape
Lize asked me to capture family portraits again this year, and this time we went to Franskraal’s beach for the photos. Lize, Gerda, Stephanie and Wilmie are sisters and they are part of a beautiful family!

We went to the beach at 7am and normally you are greeted the most beautiful sunrise, but we had a cloudy morning with incredible sun breaking through the clouds…and with most of my shoots I am obviously freaking out because I love dramatic clouds, and having my Godox AD200 on a tripod means I can create really cool family portraits against the clouds.
Thank you again Lize for allowing me to capture your family and I really love seeing the kids grow up….see you again this year in December? Hope so!

Stuart and Nicole | Wedding | Hertford Country Hotel
Such a beautiful and wet wedding at Hertford Country Hotel. Stuart and Nicole looked amazing and I love all the colours!
A real man loves his wife, and places his family as the most important thing in life. Nothing has brought me more peace and content in life than simply being a good husband and father. Frank Abagnale
Wow, what a wet few days before the wedding, and also during the wedding. It started to rain on the Thursday and it never really stopped, and we had some good downpours during the wedding! But that doesn’t stop Stuart and Nicole and her guests…I have a smile in almost every photo I have taken! It was probably the most challenging wedding for me to date due to the weather, because it’s darker than normal and having people cramped in small spaces because they can’t be out in the rain makes it very difficult…and the rain delayed almost everyone getting to the venue…but I really love the outcome!
I told Stuart and Nicole that we will take photos in the rain during their couple shoot, and they were like “Yeah, sure!”…I mean Nicole woke up with a sore throat and she had 20% of her voice the whole day, but they were keen to tackle the rain. Luckily we didn’t have pouring rain during the couple shoot, and we even improvised a little by adding some water (one of the groomsmen squirted water on them to create lots of water for a really cool rain shot). I realised that with the really cool rain photos out there, there was lots and lots of rain, and we only had a little rain…so to make “lots of rain” I made holes in a water bottle to create a soft downpour on the couple…and it WORKED!
The bridesmaids were also full of ideas…I can’t take credit for the photos where they opened the umbrellas to get water on Stuart and Nicole…so I guess they are also to blame for making Nicole wet…hehehe.
This was my last wedding for 2019 and what a way to end of the year!
Enjoy the photos. Please be so kind and leave a comment at the end of the blog post! a little love goes a long way!

Melt, Ohna and the twins | Urban session | Melville, Jhb
This was one of the coolest shoots I have done and love the photos! Melt, Ohna and the twins are such a beautiful family!
I had the privilege to capture Melt and Ohna’s maternity shoot two years ago, and look at the twins now! Wow, they are soooo freakin cute and they were a breeze to shoot! They were doing their own thing, and I have learnt to follow what the kids do with family shoots, and it works amazingly! It also helped to show them the flash button on my camera, and they could press the button and “shoot” someone (I mean it looks like lightning going off when the flash fires) as incentive! They loved it! We did the maternity shoot in Melville one early morning, and they wanted to recreate some of the images but with the kids, and its amazing how a place can change. Many of the places were not there anymore, but I must say the “updated” Mellville looks amazing. I just loved the protea murial which wasnt there the last time!
Enough said. This was one of the coolest shoots I have done and love the photos! Please leave a comment at the end!
Werner and Elsa | Gender Reveal | Northcliff, Jhb
Congrats! Hadassah is going to be loved! Maternity shoot for Werner and Elsa was super special!
What do you get when you mix your own best friends Werner and Elsa, with a smoke grenade, Jacaranda tree flowers, the location where they got engaged, and lots and lots of wind? Really awesome memories!
Werner and Elsa is personally very good friends, they have been with us through the good and tough times…so they mean a lot to us! Elsa obviously wanted me to capture some really cool maternity and gender reveal photos of them and the baba that’s on the way, so it’s really special for me to be able to share in this special time of their lives. (I obviously knew they are getting a girl even before their parents knew, becuase I had to bring a pink smoke grenade! hehehe)
Elsa wanted to do a baby reveal shoot in September at around 16 weeks of her pregnancy, but baba didn’t want to reveal the gender, so the shoot was postponed by a month to 25 October 2019, and wow…we had such a special time.
We almost missed the Jacaranda tree flowers season, but we got some really cool spots close to Northcliff Koppie in Randburg. We also did most of the photos at the Watertower or Koppie because the place is special to them…that’s where Werner asked Elsa to marry him, and it’s special also because the views of the city and the sunsets are next level up there! We weren’t so lucky with the sunset, and on top of that we were greeted with crazy winds, so that’s why Elsa had a rather crazy hair-do in the photos…we had to stand with her face down-wind otherwise we wouldn’t have seen her face…hehehe!
We eventually revealed that they are going to have a little girl, Hadassah, and what a beautiful God-given name! Congrats you two! You are going to be such great parents, and she is going to be loved to the Moon and back! You guys are like Godparents to our kids, and if you are half the parents you are as with our kids, then you are going to be briliant!
Enough said, enjoy the photos and please leave a comment at the end!

Wow, Michelle you looked absolutely breathtaking in your Elvira dress from Timeless Bridal Couture! and I just loved the look on Ferreira ‘s face every time he looks at you…totally in love with his bride! I recently did their engagement shoot and I knew then that the wedding will be super fun because they are so easy to photograph!
The first rains for Gauteng fell during their wedding, and I know the rain cleanse the air so the light after the rain is always magical, and it was! We had the most stunning sunset shoot!
The day was super hot and we sort-off knew the rains would come, but you are never certain in Gauteng. Well, the rain came exactly during the ceremony and family portraits and I believe God wanted to tell them something…your marriage will be showered with love and blessings!
Thank you Ferreira and Michelle for allowing me to play a bit with creative portraits, and I believe it really worked during your wedding. I really love my new Godox AD200 light, which opens up so many creative possibilities for me!

Love is a song that never ends. Bambi (Disney)
Hier is my eerste afrikaanse blog. eeek.
Hierdie is definitef ‘n eerste vir my.

Gizelle and Raiden | Matric Farewell | Gold Reef City
Raiden and Gizelle’s matric farewell shoot was fun-filled and so colourful! Just love playing with smoke grenades!
Raiden and Gizelle’s matric farewell was such a fun-filled and colourful day! And wow, Gizelle you looked absolutely stunning! And I just loved Raiden’s white suit and they truly complimented each other so well!
My new favourite toy is smoke grenades! I must say, it looks easy using a smoke grenade in the photos, but it gets interesting when the wind doesn’t play along. We did the creative shoot at Gold Reef City and I knew I couldn’t use the smoke grenades over there, so we did the smoke grenade photos at Greenfields Guest House in Alberton, on their little stoep on the roof. And here the wind sort-off twirled in many directions. The one moment its blowing in your face and then next moment it comes from behind…but hey…we got seriously cool results, and luckily we had 2 smoke grenades to play with!
At the end of the day I did a few fashion shots with Gizelle and geapers….she is amazing in front of camera! Just look at the results! I must say my Godox AD200 with softbox helped a lot. I also used my Godox AD200 flash with Magnetmod Grid with 1/2 CTO gel when we did the creative shoot at Gold Reef City!
Gizelle’s makeup was done by Pretty Little Things!
