Gerhard and Kaelynne | Wedding | Black Horse Brewery
My first wedding after Covid19 in 2020! Wow, its good to be back and what a way to start! Gerhard and Kaelynne had such a special day and they looked absolutely gorgeous! Venue: Black Horse Brewery
"You are the love that came without warning; you had my heart before I could say no." Unknown
Gerhard and Kaelynne have been waiting a long time for their wedding. Covid19 wasn’t and isn’t easy for anyone this year, and having weddings postponed till next year isn’t nice either. They had their wedding planned at a different venue, and had to move it due to regulations, but found a date (31 October 2020)…and then took the risk to book it. Luckily it paid off because the lockdown levels went down to 1 and 250 people were allowed per wedding. Geapers….what a gorgeous setting for a wedding they had at Black Horse Brewery. I have been there before for a beer tasting, and obviously you have to stop there if you do the Magalies Meander…I mean the food is great, the horses are majestic and it’s just beautifully green with stunning gardens! I always knew I wanted to come back for a wedding, and I had my chance!
Being a photographer you know that when you get to the venue, you try to observe and take in as much a possible of what is going on around you. You then try to remember it, because when moments unfold in front of you, you try to incorporate as much of the surroundings as possible. That is called creative story telling. It's because photos speaks so much more than what words can do. And that is why I love what I do. I love storytelling.
When you look at these photos, and you see the happiness, joy, love, laughter, and community…then you realise….despite of what Covid19 and what 2020 have thrown at us…this is why we are alive. People matter, not things. Emotions matter, not belongings. Relationships matter, not your bank balance. I think Covid19 has taught us not to focus on the things we can get, but it has changed our perspective. We need to love more, we need to hug more, we need to be in the present more.
Gerhard and Kaelynne’s story unfolded so beautifully on their wedding day, and I enjoyed every second of it. They have the most beautiful love for each other, and they are supported by an amazing bunch of people…family and friends!
The day ended with probably the biggest rainstorm I have witnessed, and when it died down a bit we had to take a few photos in the rain! How gorgeous, but more than that…what a cool memory!
Enjoy the photos and please leave a comment at the end…a little love goes a long way!

I had such an awesome time photographing Rohan and Neruschke’s engagement session at Rosemary Hill Farm.

“How do you spell 'love'?" - Piglet"You don't spell it...you feel it." - Pooh”
I have never had a client who booked 2 weddings with me at the same time. Rohan and his sister Charlene are both getting married this year, and I am truly honoured to be entrusted with capturing one family’s wedding memories.
Rohan and Nerushcke recently got engaged and they are getting married at the beautiful De La Mas Venue. And Charlene and George will get married at Galagos Wedding Venue, and I have yet to capture a wedding at both venues. I am super excited because I have been a guest to weddings at those venues and I have been wanting to capture a wedding there for while now! Their weddings will happen a month apart, and I believe it’s going to be a super special year for their parents. They are getting a son- and daughter-in-law!
Rohan and Nerushcke are such sweet souls, and they are so in love. They were super nervious, but they were such a joy to photograph! I really enjoyed having them in front of my camera, and wow...Nerushcke…you looked amazing in that dress from Cocoberry! And your makeup by Melissa Glam Bam was oh-so-stunning!
Enough said. Enjoy the photos and please give this post some love…leave a comment at the end!
Gold, teal & pink magic | Mini Styled Shoot | Hertford Country Hotel
Wow, I enjoyed capturing Laykanne, in a beautiful Gelique dress, for my mini-styled session at the incredible Hertford Country Hotel!
“A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.” ― Coco Chanel
Wow, I enjoyed working with Laykanne during the mini-styled session I did at the beautiful Hertford Country Hotel. She wore a smashingly beautiful Gelique dress, which she borrowed from her a mutual friend (and her boss's wife) Simone from the Wedding Event!
My inspiration comes from my own home. My wife, Juanita, has a special eye for decor and design, and most of the Rose Gold items in the shoot I used are from our bedroom. Locust tree leaf, the Consol Glass jars, and Wooden Protea cutt-outs were painted Rose Gold using spray-paint. The old ladder is from my garage, and the greenery is from my garden.
I am in love with Proteas which is in season at the moment. I loved how the pink, teal and Rose Gold compliment each other!
Simone made the beautiful Protea bouquet with the two proteas, and I got the red-pink proteas from Impala Flora at the Fourways Gardens' Spar.
Here are the suppliers who featured during this shoot!

David & Irene | Wedding | Kuthaba Bush Lodge
Wow, I am in love with David & Irene's safari style wedding at Kuthaba Bush Lodge! Irene's Bride & Co dress was out of this world!
Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage. — LAO TZU
I always say that a client that is referred to me is the best client. Irene is one of those clients. She got my details from Cheryl and I had so much fun during their wedding! David and Irene are such great people, and I fell in love with who they are as a person since we first met last year for the engagement shoot. I can still remember how we had this super duper planned day and it all went pear shaped because we couldn’t enter the property we wanted to go to. So we ended shooting in a barren field, and we used whatever we had and made the best of it! That is such a testimony of who they are…they are focused people but also easy-going and content with the world.
It was my first time to capture a wedding at Kuthaba Bush Lodge and I loved it. Some of the most memorable moments for me was when I found out that Irene did not have bridesmaids but "groomsmaids". I kinda expected to see David in a kilt, because he is half Scottish but he did not wear one. All the groomsmen had a handkerchief in their suit pockets made from kilt material. And the one thing that completely blew me away was Irene's dress. Wow, I loved her dress which she bought on Still White. Its a Bride and Co dress and she definitely made a statement!
I try to end every wedding with a sparkler photo. How this photo works is I run around them with a sparkler in the dark, and then the sparkler leaves a trial wherever I ran. The problem is I need to do this in complete darkness, otherwise I show up on the photo, so there is always a risk of me falling over a rock or something because I do not know where I am going. Well...this was the first time I fell down during on of the attempts, and I didn't get hurt...too much... I just picked up a few scratches...Funny enough on the night we made these jokes that I couldn't go and phone Discovery to claim for my health insurance because an employee of Discovery (Irene works for Discovery) has seen what happened...hehehe...we had a giggle...Those photos are always worth it, doesn't matter the risk I have to take!
